Environmentally friendly polymeric films based on biocarbon, synthetic zeolite and PVP for agricultural chemistry

An investigation was made into polymeric films based on polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the matrix, in combination with synthetic zeolite and dried or pyrolyzed biocarbon (biochar). The were prepared by casting method, their properties variously analysed (optical microscopy, FTIR analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, mechanical properties, water solubility, uptake). Evaluation also encompassed biological decomposition of soil environment influence growth Sinapis alba. Optical microscopy indicated particles fillers almost completely evenly distributed polymer therein forming networks randomly. Since space between decreased particle content increased, raising brought about more compact networks. IR spectra for proved occurrence hydrogen bonding PVP zeolite. processing acceptable. Water solubility uptake satisfactory regarding handling further use. Respirometric tests a positive effect biodegradation tested films. proposed positively influenced germination rate alba, while matrix did not hinder growth. Observations testing led to conclusion that materials (synthetic zeolite/biocarbon) have potential agricultural utilization.
